Whether you go to witness a stunning sunrise above the cloud line, hike into the crater of the world’s largest dormant volcano, bike down the slopes, or stay after sunset to stargaze in an otherworldly landscape, a visit to Maui’s own Haleakala Volcano – or ‘House of the Sun’ – should be on every traveler’s Maui bucket list.
Biking has been enjoyed by countless visitors looking for some excitement while learning about Maui, exploring new areas, and watching the sunrise from the most amazing spot in the world. Take a trip to the summit of Haleakala Crater and experience one of Maui’s most popular activities.
Ziplining has become the next big thing on Maui, and why not?! What better place to zip over and through the lush forest and tropical farms with ocean and mountain views? Maui is home to many ziplining courses with different styles. We highly recommend ziplining with either Kapalua Zipline or Maui Zipline Company.
Maui Fishing is unparalleled for the quality and quantity of fish in our waters. Enjoy a relaxing day on the water, get some sun, have some fun, and come home with some fish to cook up. These trips often pay for themselves, considering the amount of fish you can take home.
We love Maui luaus for many reasons: A delicious feast, sunset over the ocean, great music, fire dancing, hula, and stories of Hawaiian and Polynesian history and legend. It’s the perfect activity for the entire family.
Live music and outdoor movies at Maui’s most scenic venue are a must while visiting The Valley Isle. The Maui Tropical Plantation offers exciting events and live music performances backed by the West Maui Mountains. Go early to enjoy a delicious dinner and craft cocktails at Cafe OʻLei at the Mill House!
Maui Surf Lessons are a lot of fun and great exercise. There are almost always small waves somewhere on the island that suits learning perfectly. Experienced instructors can give you 1 on 1 instruction in the water. Catch a wave, build your confidence, and have a blast. There are plenty of opportunities for photos too!
Snorkeling in Maui can be done from the shore or from a boat. Some of the best snorkeling is at Molokini Crater (only accessed by boat.) This volcanic atoll is protected inside from currents that can mix up the water and hurt visual clarity. It’s also a marine sanctuary, so lots of fish! You can also snorkel from the shore and likely run into plenty of fish and turtles.
Massage in Maui will change your world! Visiting Hawaii should always be about relaxing. Exploring our island can be a lot of fun, but stopping to get rid of your mainland knots is worth every minute. We suggest Massage Maui in north Kihei because of their skilled masseuses.
Hiking on Maui is one of the best ways to see the island. From hikes with panoramic views of Maui to hiking through lush bamboo forests to reach hidden waterfalls on Maui’s north shore, Hike Maui provides personal tour guides for your next adventure in paradise.
The Road to Hana is a must for Maui visitors. Travel through lush forest, along the rugged volcanic coastline, and next to the most picturesque waterfalls in the world. There are many ways to experience the Road to Hana: renting a car with a CD guide, taking a van tour, exploring by yourself with GPS, and even camping!
Maui Whale Watching is some of the best in the world because every year thousands of Humpback Whales come to Maui in order to breed or give birth. The competitive surface behavior from Humpback males will blow you away! Whale watching has quickly become our favorite winter activity. (Approx. December – May)
