The first thing you need to do is decide what side of the island you want to stay on. The south of Maui (Wailea, Kihei, Makena) has many resorts, hotels and condominum rentals just as does the west of Maui (Lahaina, Ka’anapali, Kapalua, Napili.) These are the most frequented areas by tourists because the weather is usually nice and sunny and there are some great beaches. If you’re looking for a more authentic Hawaiian experience, we suggest staying in Hana Town. We’re in love with the property at Travaasa Hana Hotel, which is nestled in the heart of Hana. You can also find some accommodations Upcountry where the weather is much cooler and you get some incredible views.
