While the shores of Kihei, Wailea, Lahaina, and Ka’anapali are often flooded with visitors making their way to golden sand beaches, shops, luaus, and scenic happy hours, travelers looking for a bit more of an escape usually seek out the few and far between boutique rentals on the slopes of Haleakala or Maui’s north shore towns of Paia and Haiku.
A more convenient option, however, is the lovely Iao Valley Inn, located only a short five-minute drive from the lush Iao Valley State Park and restaurants, shops, and attractions of nearby Wailuku Town.
This locally-owned B&B sits on 37 acres and offers guests views of the West Maui Mountains, soothing sounds of Iao Stream, and even a garden and waterfall on the property itself. Owners Tamara and Bob are full of great suggestions about what, where, and how to get the most out of your stay on Maui and offer each and every guest a fresh island breakfast, perfect for enjoying a relaxing morning on your covered lanai with a loved one, friend or family member.
Rooms & Suites
Guests at Iao Valley Inn can choose from one of two rooms – The Palms Room or Orchid Room – as well as a separate private cottage with a gazebo, full kitchen, and view of Iao Stream. Each newly remodeled room includes a King size bed, private bathroom, mini-fridge and microwave, walk-in closet, complimentary wifi, TV, and DVD player, fan, silverware, glassware, hairdryer, beach towels, CD/radio player, and use of barbecue grill and laundry room. Breakfast is served each morning from 7am to 9am, and includes fruit, pastries, coffee and tea, cereal, milk, and juices.
This little slice of paradise is a great option for those searching for a truly relaxing escape in nature without having to venture to Hana to enjoy it. Only a 20-25 minute drive to Kihei and Lahaina, this is the perfect taking-off spot for some of Maui’s most popular activities. While certainly not as flashy as some of Maui’s top resorts, rest assured that it’s also not nearly as crowded or hectic.
