Known for its Paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) culture, resident artists and low-key setting, Makawao is a gorgeous town in a convenient area of Upcountry Maui. Every third Friday of the month, the Maui County Office of Economic Development hosts a free town party on Makawao’s Baldwin Avenue.
Featuring amazing panoramic sunset views, cool(er) temperatures, and a variety of surrounding shops, galleries and restaurants, we highly recommend this family-friendly event when visiting The Valley Isle.
Third Fridays in Makawao Town
From 4:45 to 9pm, Baldwin Avenue closes to foot-traffic only, allowing guests to walk along and enjoy Third Friday events like live music entertainment, dancing, local vendor booths, and even a fun photo booth.
A recent addition to the Makawao party, the Keiki Zone features a bungie trampoline, face painter, balloon animals and more, perfect for keeping the kiddos entertained.
Also feel free to listen in to the live podcast, typically held at Sip Me Coffee Shop, and stop by some of the best surrounding restaurants like Makawao Steakhouse, Casanova, Market Fresh Bistro, and Polli’s Mexican Restaurant for drinks or dinner. And as a final tip, we recommend arriving early to take advantage of nearby street parking!
