North Shore Lookout

Maui County Permit: #BBMP20170003 HI TAT #TA-174-391-0912-01

North Shore Lookout provides spacious, private, and stylish accommodation in gorgeous Upcountry Maui. We got a taste for the Maui countryside by exploring the property’s working farm and meeting some of the resident horses and pigs. Wow, so conveniently located! Only a short drive from Makawao, Paia, and Kula, North Shore Lookout was the ideal starting point for some of Maui’s most unique shopping, dining, and activities. Call (808) 868-1651

ʻIao Valley Inn

On our 2nd night as newlyweds, we basked in the peaceful, comforting atmosphere of the ‘green’ room. Not a speck of dust in sight, every nook and cranny painted to perfection. The expectation of perfection continued to be fulfilled with home-grown coffee for breakfast, scones, fresh fruit, juice… every morning of our stay. The only thing that could have made our stay better would have been some rain to give us a decent waterfall to see! Thank you, Bob and Tamara, for your hospitality, the use of the washer and dryer, and your great attitude. Any future visits to Maui, weʻll definitely call you two! (808) 633-6028

Westin Kaʻanapali Ocean Villas

During our annual getaways to Maui, we always have to stay at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Villas North. The location is ideal, right on the idyllic Kaanapali Beach, close to numerous restaurants and shopping at Whalers Village and Lahaina. My family’s favorite hotel activities are playing at the numerous on-site pools, and watersides, playing at the beach, and feeding the koi fish in the enormous fish ponds. The ocean swimming and snorkeling can’t be beaten! What a treat to take my kids out snorkeling and see the wonder in their eyes as they get to see first-hand the wonders of the ocean. We also love to go for morning walks along the miles of walkways up and down the beach. Such beautiful sunrise and sunset images are forever burned in my memory from those walks! The rooms themselves are wonderful, very clean, quiet, and have fully stocked kitchens for a family ready for BBQs and fish cook-outs. We love having the option to cook at the hotel instead of always having to find a restaurant. Historically we’ve always stayed in Tower 7 and have never been disappointed! I would highly recommend staying at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Villas North. It’s well worth every penny and then some!!!

Wailea Marriott

I would say the best experience we’ve ever had on Hawaii and specifically, Maui is at the Wailea Marriott Resort. It was such an amazing place. From the very beginning, as you turn down the road to the hotel, it was breathtaking. As we pulled in front of the Hotel, we were surprised to see that a majority of the hotel had no walls. Everything was outside like a large relaxing patio. Even the grounds were clean and beautifully done. From there we checked in at the open-air lobby. They had a garden view room and were so excited to see it. The staff was really sweet and the lady just kept making us laugh and smile. I ended up asking if they had any Ocean view rooms that we could upgrade to. She smiled and said that they were pretty full with some conventions that were in town and that there probably wouldn’t be any but that she would check anyway. She came running back a second later with a huge grin and said there was one left and it would be ours for an extra &$50 a night. Didn’t really know if that was a deal or not, but I couldn’t say no to the way she was so excited for us. The room was also breathtaking. right, as you walk in you, see out to the ocean. The clean white floor and the beautifully crafted Hawaiian would decor were so beautiful we thought we had the wrong room. The room itself was huge. The bed was fantastic and we loved the soft white comforter that was on it. We spent much of our time in the mornings out on our private deck watching the whales come to the surface of the ocean. We couldn’t have asked for a better room! We had plans to head up to Haleakala to watch the sunrise one morning and as we were heading to our car, they could tell where we were going and ran out some extra blankets for us saying it was supposed to be really cold that morning. They went out of their way to take care of us in every way! Any time we go back to Maui we plan to stay at this resort and just enjoy the beauty and amazing service.

The Mahana at Kaʻanapali Beach

There are several hotels on Kaʻanapali Beach that you can stay at they all have different accommodations but the Mahana is a one-of-a-kind hotel they don’t have a fancy gift shop or restaurant which makes a quiet, calm, relaxing environment. As soon as you drive up you see the tall palm trees swaying back and forth to the warm Hawaiian breeze you walk in and you instantly feel at peace the staff is very friendly and the check-in is very quick. The great thing about the Mahana is that every single room in the resort is oceanfront and I don’t mean ocean view you are on the beach! As soon as you walk in you see a spectacular view of the ocean the whole wall is glass not just in the living area but also in the bedroom! You walk out to the lanai and you have this amazing view all you see is the ocean it’s so close that you feel like you can reach out and touch it! you can sleep with your glass doors open and everything is so calm and quiet all you hear is the relaxing ocean waves! You can even hear whales breaching in the distance! They have an oceanfront pool with a hot tub and b.b.q. You can hang out by the pool enjoying the beautiful ocean or just walk down to the beach and watch the sunset. You get a full kitchen and washer and dryer the hotel provides tide. The rooms are decorated beautifully and you don’t feel like you are at a hotel but at home because most rooms are decorated by the owners. There are so many things about the Mahana that make it one of the best if not best resorts in Maui but my favorite thing is that you truly feel like you’re in paradise as soon as you walk through those glass doors!

What A Wonderful World Bed and Breakfast

Our first stay with Jim and Eva Tantillo, hosts of the bed and breakfast, was twelve years ago after reading a very favorable review in a Fodor’s book. We have now stayed with them on three visits to the island, and on a fourth (when there was no room at the inn) Eva arranged a rental condo nearby – and hosted us for one of her famous breakfasts!

Eva is the epitome of hospitality. Breakfasts, which are AMAZING, are hosted on her lanai, which has great views of the ocean, as well as a somewhat obscured view of Haleakala. We never really plan on lunch when staying here – one other meal is usually all we want. Great coffee, fresh fruits and juices, bread, and incredible breakfast creations are prepared and served by Eva in a friendly, cheerful manner that encourages a family atmosphere with fellow guests. My husband and I are always prone to linger on the lanai longer than planned, having a great visit. Eva additionally has a wealth of knowledge about the island for mining – including great recommendations on restaurants, current great snorkeling spots, shows, luaus, etc. She’ll also handle your car rental and ticketing for luaus and shows.

Rooms are well-appointed and Maui-casual comfortable. Guests have access to laundry facilities (we’ve never checked out with dirty clothes!), snorkeling gear, beach chairs/umbrellas, and the BBQ pit in the beautiful downstairs garden patio. The air-conditioned rooms are comfortable – some have kitchen/kitchenettes, are quiet, and equipped with TVs and DVD players. The home is in the center of a neighborhood perched above Kamaole Park 3 (if I remember correctly), and is less than 5 minutes from being ON the beach under a shade tree. Some rooms will accommodate as many as five and are reasonably priced. In the past, when we book for six nights, the seventh is free, though I don’t know for certain that Eva still honors that – certainly worth asking about!
The only downside to a stay there is limited parking space, though this has never deterred us from booking a stay here. Staying in Kihei has the added benefit of being central to just about everything on the island, having incredible sunsets and very little rain to worry about. The Tantillo home is BEAUTIFUL, the fragrance of island flowers always lingers here. I unequivocally recommend her to people looking for something more intimate and casual (as well as affordable!) on a visit to Maui – one of the most beautiful places on the planet.

International Colony Club, Kaʻanapali, Maui

We have stayed at Cottage #1 at the International Colony Club both times that we took our family of 6 to Maui. We love Hawaii. The cottage was awesome, private lanai, quiet, clean, and very well equipped with everything we needed including snorkeling gear, BBQ, etc. The prices were very reasonable for a two-bedroom, two-bathroom accommodation with a washer/dryer. The parking lot is a few steps from the cottage. Plus there are two pools and beautiful pathways to walk along. It is about a 10-minute walk to the beach and a short drive to Whalers Village and Lahaina town.

Napili Kai Resort

Stayed at Napili Kai Resort, and we had a fantastic time on our Honeymoon there. The SeaHorse Restaurant had Amazing dishes and the Chef was nice enough to come out and check on with. The Macadamia Nut Mahi Mahi was Delicious.

25 Best Things To Do on Maui

Lahaina Shores Condos

I got married in Lahaina and stayed at Lahaina shores condos. It was a no-frills place that had nice rooms, a perfect view, close to the ocean, and very friendly staff. I highly recommend it if you are being budget-minded. Reception at Old Lahaina Luau. Amazing!!!!!! Road to Hana, beautiful!!!! I don’t think you can go wrong with anything in Maui. It is so beautiful and magical.

Maui Vista

We’ve stayed at the Maui vista twice. Good location across from Charley Young beach. Close restaurants and shopping as well. The condo had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked and had beach stuff in the closet. Reasonably priced as well. We did find it a bit noisy tho. The 1st from the pool cleaner and the 2nd time from street traffic and people talking loudly.

Waiohuli Beach Hale

We stayed at Waiohuli Beach Hale last March and it was a wonderful experience. Stayed for two weeks. The unit was clean and well-stocked. Nice to have beach supplies already there. Nice small complex off of S. Kihei Rd so a bit quieter and right on the water. Counting down till our return.

Kaʻanapali Beach Club Resort

I have stayed at the Kaʻanapali Beach Club resort many times and I can not say enough great things about it. The rooms are always kept very clean and have been recently renovated. The service everyone there gives is outstanding. The pool is very nice and they have a great kiddie pool with a water slide that the kids just adore. The resort also has daily Keiki (kids) activities for all ages. It has a good central location on the west side of Maui. This location makes Lahaina and many of the great golf courses only minutes away. I would strongly recommend the Kaʻanapali Beach Club resort to anyone staying on the west side of Maui.

Valley Isle Resort

We have been to Maui for the past 12 years. We stay for 5 to 6 weeks and we rent from private owners at The Valley Isle Resort in Kahana! We have never had a bad unit, the owners have all been wonderful and we wouldn’t consider staying any other place! You are directly on the ocean and the views are breathtaking! Hats off to The Valley Isle Resort! We love your units!

Maui Ocean Club

Located on Kaʻanapali beach, the Vacation Club’s Maui Ocean Club is wonderful! I always enjoy Maui but that was the best time I’ve ever had. It is located near many shops and restaurants, right on the beach with a waterside and activities for the kids as well as the adults. I loved it almost as much as I love Maui. Aloha

~Diane

I love to sit on the lanai and look at the ocean. I can see the cruise ships coming in, the last visit I saw the Disney ship come into the harbor. Besides the wonderful weather just being able to jump in the car and go anywhere and it doesn’t take forever to get there……well except Hana! I love to go out to Iao Needle, that is my favorite place. Just being able to spend quality time with family in such a beautiful place is almost heaven.
