What’s happening on Maui for December 2025?

Hui Holidays 2025: Celebrate the season by shopping local at Hui Holidays! During this special time of year, the Hui No‘eau gift shop blossoms into an expanded marketplace filled with one-of-a-kind treasures from Maui’s artists and makers. Every purchase helps support Maui’s creative community while bringing the spirit of local artistry into your home this holiday season. Runs until December 24.

LOL@MACC: Jiaoying Summers: Jiaoying Summers is a comedy powerhouse on a rapid rise. She was named as one of Variety’s 10 Comics To Watch for 2025. Born in China and now based in Los Angeles, she turns cultural clashes, immigrant identity, and motherhood into razor-sharp comedy that resonates across continents. Don’t miss her at the MACC! 7:30 pm. 

December 5

Kapalua Concert Series featuring Ulu Maika: Hawaiian entertainer Wilmont Kahaialiʻi shares his signature blend of storytelling and song, joined by the vibrant energy of ʻUlu Maika. Set within the elegant Alaloa Lounge, guests will savor handcrafted cocktails, fresh sushi and sashimi, and the island’s best smash burgers—all while overlooking the sacred shores of Honokahua Bay. The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, 6:00 pm. 

December 6 

Emo Kids Live – National Tour: Emo Kids are taking over da Playground Maui. If you grew up screaming lyrics in your bedroom, this is your night. Don’t miss one of the island’s loudest nights of the year to sing and rock it out. Da Playground, 7:00 pm, 21+.

Maui Pops Orchestra Holiday Pops: Step into the spirit of the season with Maui Pops Orchestra’s dazzling Holiday Pops concert, led by maestro Jim Durham and starring Broadway and the West End sensation Scarlett Strallen. Enjoy an afternoon brimming with timeless Christmas classics and cherished holiday favorites, performed with warmth, joy, and sparkle. MACC, 3:00 pm.

December 12 

Electro House Party: Corbin Glover returns to da Playground Maui for an epic night of live DJ performances. Corbin seamlessly integrates his electric violin into every track and lights up audiences with live violin performances during his sets. With special guests Kerrazy and Trini GV, get ready for a special night of deep house grooves and electronic dance. Da Playground, 8:30 pm, 21+.

December 13 

Alexander Academy Presents: The Nutcracker: Experience the Magic of the Season with The Nutcracker! Maui’s own Alexander Academy of Performing Arts once again proudly presents this dazzling ballet. With exquisite sets, world-class costumes, and Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable score, this is Maui’s premier full-length ballet, brought to life with top-tier artistry. MACC, December 13-17. 

December 16 

Grand Wailea Tree Lighting Ceremony: Head to the Grand Wailea’s front drive for a magical Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6pm featuring live entertainment and opening remarks that will commence the countdown of the official lighting around 7pm.

December 20 

Brigado Crew: Brigado Crew is taking over the decks at da Playground Maui. Experience their deep, melodic, and hypnotic house sounds that shake the dance floor. Beats, drops, and non-stop rhythm. Da Playground, 9:00 pm, 21+.

Jake Shimabukuro’s Holidays in Hawaii: Immerse yourself in the magical spirit of the holidays as the ʻukulele virtuoso and beloved ambassador of aloha, Jake Shimabukuro, presents his highly anticipated seasonal extravaganza: Jake Shimabukuro, Holidays in Hawaiʻi! This festive show promises to be a sensational gift to music lovers worldwide, delivering an unforgettable experience filled with joy, warmth, and the infectious charm of the ʻukulele. MACC, 7:30 pm.

Halau Na Lei Kaumaka o Uka presents: Hanau Ke Alii, A King is Born: The multiple award-winning Hālau Nā Lei Kaumaka o Uka, under the direction of Kumu Hula Nāpua Silva, brings this year to a close with an inspirational performance celebrating the Christmas season by honoring the birth of Christ through mele and hula. Over 100 dancers take the stage and share their favorite Christmas songs and memories. MACC, 6:30 pm.

Jessica Audiffred: Ring in the new year at da Playground!  Jessica Audiffred, Mexico City’s queen of global EDM, is bringing her high-energy live sets to Maui. Don’t miss this epic NYE party. Da Playground, 9:00 pm, 21+.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks and Festivities: We haven’t seen anything confirmed yet, but you can typically expect midnight NYE fireworks fronting the Grand Wailea Resort. Some tour boat companies (like Alii Nui and Trilogy) also offer NYE firework and dinner cruises.

Weekly Events

Mondays

Lei Po’o Making: The Shops of Wailea invites guests to learn how to weave ti leaf leis using ferns and flowers. Lei Po’o can be worn on the head and was typically used as a gift on special occasions by Ali’i (Hawaiian Royalty). This event is open to both keiki and adults and runs from 2:30 to 3:30 pm.

Tuesdays

Polynesian Show at The Shops: This weekly show will highlight Hawaiian hula as well as other dances of Polynesia. The performance will take place at the Shops of Wailea from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.

Coconut Husking at The Shops: From 2:30 to 3:30 pm weekly, the Shops of Wailea will be hosting demonstrations of the traditional and modern methods in husking a coconut. Learn how the Hawaiians would use every part of the coconut from food to crafting eating utensils, jewelry as well as furniture.

Wednesdays

Thursdays

Polynesian Show at the Shops: This weekly show will highlight Hawaiian hula as well as other dances of Polynesia. The performance will take place at the Shops of Wailea from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.

Coconut Frond Weaving at the Shops: The Shops of Wailea invites guests to try their hand at the highly developed Hawaiian skill of weaving. Coconut frond weaving was used to make baskets, mats, and even toys. This event runs weekly from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Fridays

Papa Hula at the Shops: Hosted at the Shops of Wailea, Papa Hula is a celebration of the Hawaiian way of life. Enjoy a complimentary dance lesson, complete with costumes and accessories, and the dance movements and their meanings. This interactive performance runs from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Saturdays

Upcountry Farmers Market: Shop some of the best local souvenirs on the island, indulge in delicious food and support local farmers at one of Maui’s biggest weekly events. Don’t forget to set your morning alarm, as this market favors the early shopper. The Upcountry Farmers Market runs from 7:00 to 11:00 am every Saturday at the Kulamalu Town Center in Pukalani.

Sundays

Maui Gift and Craft Fair: Stop by the Lahaina Gateway Center and browse West Maui’s largest gift and craft fair. This weekly event hosts over 50 vendors, showcasing jewelry, photography, art, crafts, keiki activities, and more. Maui Gift and Craft Fair runs from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm every Sunday.
