Mala Ocean Tavern has 2 locations in Maui: 1 in Lahaina and the other in Wailea. The Lahaina Location is on the North end of Front Street, away from the main tourist area. The restaurant sits on the water, literally. If there's any sign of swell in the water, you may want to forgo the upfront seating unless you like getting a little wet. We love this location because of the view and its not being right in tourist central.
THE FOOD
Mala makes, HANDS DOWN, the best burger in Maui, Hawaii. They do a Kobe Beef burger with bacon, roasted onions, and melted chunks of bleu cheese. It's heaven on Earth. It's also not a cheap burger, but it's worth every penny.
THE OWNERS
Mark and Judy Ellman own this restaurant as well as the slightly less impressive Penne Pasta and Maui Tacos.
Open for both lunch and dinner, Mala Ocean Tavern is one of the best spots to eat in Lahaina. Try the burger, but also try the calamari, fish salads, or pretty much anything on their menu.
They're available for weddings, full buyouts for private parties and can accommodate up to 78 people.
