Mostly just like every other month. This spring, there are plenty of enticing events going on, from local festivals and markets to Friday town parties, dining events, live music and more. Maui Events May 2018

Saturday Evenings (May 5th, 12th, 19th & 26th):

Maui Chef’s Table – Come experience the Maui Chef’s Table culinary adventure on the grounds of Maui Tropical Plantation! Enjoy 9 courses of unique, farm-fresh cuisine and craft cocktails, all prepared in a gorgeous island setting. Please check their calendar for dates and tickets. $150 per person, including tax and gratuity; 6pm – 9:30pm.

May 4th

Wailuku First Friday: Live music, ono grinds, shopping and family fun entertainment on Wailuku’s historic Market Street.

Maui County’s 150th Gannenmono Celebration: The free Musical Extravaganza event is Maui County’s 150th Gannenmono Celebration, honoring the past 150 years of the first Japanese immigrants to come to Hawaii. The evening honors the multi-cultural plantation heritage that brought the Japanese to Hawaii.

May 5th

Family Class at Island Art Party: From 2pm to 4:30pm, reserve a spot in Kihei’s family-friendly painting class. Painting ‘Peacock,’ this class is open for ages 8 and up.

MAPA’s Spring Extravaganza 2018: Maui Academy of Performing Arts presents four spectacular shows for the entire family. The weekend opens with MAPA’s annual recital on Saturday afternoon featuring dancers of all ages strutting their stuff in hip hop, jazz, and contemporary.

Aloha from Hawaii: Celebrating Cinco de Mayo – ALOHA FROM HAWAII 2018 features some of Hawaii’s best artists, including Jordan T, Anuhea, Iration and The Green.

18th Annual Maui Matsuri – A Japanese Cultural Festival: The festival features Japanese and Okinawan entertainment, free children’s crafts, food booths craft booths, kids games, exhibits, cosplay exhibition, martial arts demos, saimin & natto eating contests, manga & art drawing contests, and ends with a community Bon Dance which honors ancestors.

May 6th

Maui Waena Intermediate School Band: Join us in the Castle Theater for our annual School Band Concert Series presenting the Maui Waena Intermediate School Band. Free admission.

Lahaina Second Friday: Live music, ono grinds, shopping and family-fun entertainment on Lahaina’s famous Front Street.

May 18th

Makawao Third Friday: Live music, ono grinds, shopping and family-fun entertainment on Makawao’s Baldwin Avenue.

May 19th

10th Annual Maui Brewers Festival: The event features tasty food from local restaurants and caterers at no additional charge, beer tastings from local and national craft breweries, live music featuring Riddum Station, Yum Yum Beast, Shea Butter and the Cream, door prizes, a home brew competition, and lots of fun.

May 23rd

Iao School Band: The public is invited to attend and support Maui’s hard-working young performing artists at this free concert at the MACC.

May 25th

Kihei Fourth Friday: Live music, ono grinds, shopping and family-fun entertainment at Kihei’s Azeka Shopping Center.

Artist to Artist – Henry Kapono & Malani Bilyeu: In this new MACC concert series, two artists talk-story, play music, and have fun! Each concert will feature Henry Kapono and a different guest artist in an intimate format that offers the audience a rare opportunity to get up-close and personal.

Maui Barrio Fiesta: The 49th Annual Barrio Fiesta will be held on Friday, May 25 and Saturday, May 26 at the Binhi at Ani Filipino Community Center. Lots of food, culture, entertainment, activities, contests, and prizes.
