Maui Scuba Diving Schools and the Certification Process
If you're looking to scuba dive in Maui, but are not certified, you have 2 options. You can take a longer more expensive certification course on the Mainland (in colder waters) or you can get certified in Maui. The only set back to getting certified while on your trip is the amount of time it will take away from your vacation. Below you'll find a list of Maui Scuba Diving Schools that will certify you for Padi dives.
Our personal favorite is Maui Dreams Dive Company. They are patient, experienced, friendly, and offer certification at great prices. If you're kama'aina, then you get an even better rate on the scuba certification as well as on rental gear. Maui Dreams will start you off right away in the ocean and help you through different safety procedures. You'll be walked through every part of setting up your gear as well as through the different possible scenarios while underwater. After your 3-4 day course, you'll be ready for any situation. The dives are from shore and relatively easy. Each day of training is thorough, yet brief enough for you to still enjoy the rest of the day. If you're only planning on visiting our island for 4-5 days, we recommend you learn elsewhere so as to not disturb your trip with tests and diving exhaustion. Though the dives are shallow and not very long, the process is tiring and you'll want to take it easy for the rest of the day.
All in all, Maui Dreams has proven to be an excellent Maui Scuba School providing Padi certification by friendly and understanding dive masters.
