You may have heard rumors that Buzz's Wharf has some of the best seafood connections on the island. Well, we've confirmed it with another fantastic meal and some well-served questions. Not only do they get the freshest fish on the island, but the owner also owns their own private Prawn Farm in Tahiti. Their connections are legit and they prove worthy of them with one wonderful meal after another.
THE FOOD
As we mentioned above, Buzz's Wharf takes their seafood very seriously. They also serve delicious hand cut and broiled steaks and tasty marinated chicken teriyaki.
Back to the seafood, their Tahitian Prawns are to die for. They're rich and sweet and share many characteristics of lobster (except for the price!)
This reviewer can honestly say they're the best shrimp I've ever had. The Wasabi Crusted Seared Ahi (in the photo below) is out of this world too.
THE RESTAURANT
Buzz's has a great location, easy to access from both South Maui and West Maui. From North Kihei, you're looking at a 5-minute drive. From Lahaina, it will take around 10-20 minutes. Buzz's Wharf is a great place to eat after going on a boat trip at Maalaea Harbor, after exploring the island, and to just watch the sunset. The ocean view is one of the best on Maui.
Buzz's Wharf is completely in-doors, which is a nice change when eating out in the heat of the summer. You still get the view, but you also get the comfort of air conditioning (and no bugs!)
THE SERVICE
The last few times we've been to Buzz's Wharf, the service has been beyond exceptional. Our drinks were always full, bread was brought, our table was kept clean and set up correctly and the hosting staff is very friendly. Our waitresses have always been very friendly and happy. It's nice to enjoy a meal with a fun, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable server attending to us.
