#1 Mediterranean Grill
Your nose will lead the way to this 5-star food truck. Lebanese spices waft from the fresh lamb spit, slowly spinning the savory gyro meat. If lamb isn’t your jam, they also offer chicken shawrmas. And if you’re in a vegetarian mood, their falafel is fabulous! Make sure to order a side of their incredibly fresh hummus and warm pitas as a starter. And a side of the saffron rice with a baba ganoush. Actually, just order one of everything and you can decide for yourself which delicious dish is best!
#2 Organic Haiku Espresso
If you’re not looking for a full meal, you’ll find the pick-me-up at the Organic Haiku Espresso truck. This suspiciously similar truck is actually the sister business to the Mediterranean Grill. This means the high quality standards extend to the freshly baked vegan, organic, gluten-free muffins, cakes, cookies and bars. And if you’re looking for a little dessert after your mediterranean lunch, their freshly baked baklava is a must try. If this is a morning visit, go for the organic hibiscus ginger juice or one of their antioxidant power foods smoothies. Even if coffee is the only thing on your list, they pull a mean shot of espresso!
#3 Island Taco
It is possible to get an outstanding fresh fish taco with the works for a fraction of any sit-down restaurants version. Start with choosing a corn or flour tortilla for your chicken, pork or fish taco. Then add any or all toppings: cheese, sour cream, cabbage, cilantro, black beans, salsa, jalapeños and lime. The end product is a delectable taco, overflowing with taste and freshness!
#4 Bailey’s Cafe Local Gourmet
Bailey’s Cafe makes a mean plate lunch while focusing on fresh and local ingredients. Shoyu Chicken, Fish Stew with hearty vegetables and a fragrant coconut broth or Fried Rice with Portuguese Sausage are just a few items on the rotating menu. Their smoothies are also bomb (the Berries and Cream smoothie, made with blueberries, strawberries, vanilla and real coconut cream, is always a good idea!) and they whip up one of the best cappuccinos on the island!
