Maui Events October 2017

Saturday Evenings (October 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th):

Maui Chef’s Table – Come experience the Maui Chef’s Table culinary adventure on the grounds of Maui Tropical Plantation! Enjoy 7 courses of unique, farm-fresh cuisine and craft cocktails, all prepared in a gorgeous island setting. Please check their calendar for dates and tickets. $150 per person, including tax and gratuity.

Every Third Tuesday (October 17th):

Brushstrokes & Brews – On the third Tuesday of each month, Island Art Party brings its fun painting classes to The Maui Brewing Co. in Kihei. Come create a beautiful painting, and enjoy happy hour pricing in the tasting room all night! Only $59 (kama’aina discount available with ID) and it sells out quick, so book early. Ages 16+ only.

95th Annual Maui Fair: The year’s theme is “Celebrating the Greatest Things in Life”. Located at Wailuku’s War Memorial Stadium, guests of all ages are invited to enjoy rides, entertainment, food, a parade, contest and more.

October 6th

Wailuku First Friday: Live music, ono grinds, shopping and family fun entertainment on Wailuku’s historic Market Street.

95th Annual Maui Fair: The year’s theme is “Celebrating the Greatest Things in Life”. Located at Wailuku’s War Memorial Stadium, guests of all ages are invited to enjoy rides, entertainment, food, a parade, contest and more.

Equal Means Equal by Kamala Lopez: Maui Pride, Deborah Vial, and Caron Barrett present a special screening of Equal Means Equal, an unflinching look at the status of women in America.

October 7th

Family Class at Island Art Party: From 2pm to 4:30pm, reserve a spot in Kihei’s family-friendly painting class. Painting ‘Dancing Dolphins,’ this class is open for ages 8 and up.

Pacific Cancer Foundation Paddle for Life: The 8th Annual Paddle For Life event, where over 200 of cancer survivors and supporters journey across the open ocean in six-man outrigger canoes, kicks off at Wailuku’s Hanakao’o Beach.

Taste of Upcountry: In celebration of the bounty of Upcountry Maui, and in time for the fall harvests, Montessori School of Maui is pleased to announce their second annual Taste of Upcountry event from 6-10pm.

Tommy Emmanuel: An accomplished finger style player, Emmanuel frequently threads three different parts simultaneously into his material, operating as a one-man band who handles the melody, the supporting chords, and the bass all at once.

October 12th

Songs of Frank Sinatra & The Big Band Soundtrack: Crooner John Wilt will present a one-man show of Frank Sinatra’s classic songs featuring 32 of Sinatra’s greatest hits and other remarkable songs from that timeless era.

Lahaina Second Friday: Live music, ono grinds, shopping and family-fun entertainment on Lahaina’s famous Front Street.

Starry Night Cinema – The BFG: Maui Arts & Cultural Center presents another Starry Night Cinema event! Bring a low-back beach chair and/or a blanket and spread out on the lawn for a special screening of “The BFG”. Gates open at 5pm, movie begins at 6:30pm.

‘Ukulele Workshop: This fun workshop is conducted by Roy & Kathy Sakuma and is geared for all ages, child to adult, beginning to intermediate players. Attendees will participate in the Ukulele Festival with a song learned in the workshop.

October 15th

Maui ‘Ukulele Festival: Enjoy a relaxed afternoon on the lawn as acclaimed ukulele musicians fill the air with island music! Renowned ukulele advocate and teacher, Roy Sakuma, will serve as emcees to help us celebrate Hawaii’s beloved instrument.

Maui Marathon: Get a team of four together and run Hawaii’s only 26.2 mile Marathon Relay. There are 3 divisions in the Relay: All men’s division, all women’s division and a mixed division. Run the same course as the full marathon and enjoy 17 miles of ocean side running!

October 20th

Makawao Third Friday: Live music, ono grinds, shopping and family-fun entertainment on Makawao’s Baldwin Avenue.

October 21st

Mohola Mai: Multiple award-winning kumu hula and recording artist, Napua Greig, showcases music and hula from her brand new release entitled “Makawalu.” Over 100 beautiful dancers from Halau Na Lei Kaumaka O Uka will also grace the stage.

October 22nd

Black Uhuru: Blues Bear Hawaii presents Grammy Award-winning reggae superstars, Black Uhuru, on their three-island tour. The band is touring behind their new release, “Jah Guide.”

Fall Harvest Festival: Head Upcountry to enjoy a Craft Fair & Farmers Market, Pony Rides, Petting Zoo, Face Painting, Balloon Animals, Carnival Games, Arts & Crafts, Silent Auction, Bake Sale, Shave Ice, Food Trucks, Food Vendors & more.

October 26th

Okareka Dance Company – ‘Mana Wahine’: Formed ten years ago, Okareka Dance Company was established to fuse contemporary dance with indigenous Maori themes and other genres to create authentic, diverse works.

October 27th

Kihei Fourth Friday: Live music, ono grinds, shopping and family-fun entertainment at Kihei’s Azeka Shopping Center.

October 29th

Steven Hough, Piano: Over the course of his career, Stephen Hough has not only distinguished himself as a masterful and insightful concert pianist, but also as a writer and composer. See him at the MACC’s Castle Theater for a special performance.

October 31st – HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Lahaina Front Street Halloween Party: Each year, Lahaina Town is the host of one of the largest Halloween parties in Hawaii, often dubbed the “Mardi Gras of the Pacific”. Front Street closes off all streets to traffic, allowing costumed visitors and residents the chance to walk freely down the street and enjoy the many events held throughout the evening.
