Holy tropics, it’s August! With the kids going back to school and the warm weather, well… still extremely warm, now is the perfect time to come and enjoy all that Maui has to offer. This month, there’s plenty to look forward to, from exciting concerts to foodie events to painting parties and more, and we can’t wait to show you a bit of aloha!

Saturday Evenings (August 5th, 12th, 19th & 26th):

Maui Chef’s Table – Come experience the Maui Chef’s Table culinary adventure on the grounds of Maui Tropical Plantation! Enjoy 7 courses of unique, farm-fresh cuisine and craft cocktails, all prepared in a gorgeous island setting. Please check their calendar for dates and tickets. $150 per person, including tax and gratuity.

Every Third Tuesday (August 15th):

Brushstrokes & Brews – On the third Tuesday of each month, Island Art Party brings its fun painting classes to The Maui Brewing Co. in Kihei. Come create a beautiful painting, and enjoy happy hour pricing in the tasting room all night! Only $59 (kama’aina discount available with ID) and it sells out quick, so book early. Ages 16+ only.

August 4th

Wailuku First Friday: Live music, ono grinds, shopping and family fun entertainment on Wailuku’s historic Market Street.

Youth Art Exhibition Opening Reception: This unique exhibition showcases the work of 250+ youth participating in the Hui’s summer arts program. The result is an explosion of vibrant creativity that features the extraordinary possibilities unlocked by community visual arts education. A special collaboration with Ian Walsh’s Menehune Mayhem Surf Contest will engage an additional 200 youth in this exhibition in 2017.

August 5th

Family Class at Island Art Party: From 2pm to 4:30pm, reserve a spot in Kihei’s family-friendly painting class. Painting ‘Mystic Jellyfish,’ this class is open for ages 8 and up.

E Walea Featuring 2017 Grammy Award Winner, Kalani Pe‘a: 2017 Grammy Award winner and 40th annual Na Hoku Hanohano winner for contemporary album of the year, “E Walea,” Kalani Pe‘a will celebrate with a concert in the MACC’s McCoy Studio Theater.

America: Don’t miss your chance to revisit this Grammy-winning rock group, led for more than four decades by Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell, at the MACC’s Castle Theater.

An Evening with Ottmar Liebert & Luna Negra: A five-time Grammy nominee, Ottmar Liebert is a German guitarist, songwriter, and producer best known for his Spanish-influenced easy-listening music, where he blends sensual, melodic flamenco textures with influences from rock, jazz, and pop.

August 11th

Lahaina Second Friday: Live music, ono grinds, shopping and family-fun entertainment on Lahaina’s famous Front Street.

August 12th

The Roots of ‘Ulu: “The Roots of ‘Ulu” is a documentary film that follows the journey of breadfruit in Hawai’i, starting with the Polynesian voyaging canoes that brought the plant from Tahiti.

Tamura’s Charitable Foundation’s 3rd Annual Maui Golf Tournament: Located at Ka’anapali Resort, all proceeds assist Tamura’s Charitable Foundation with supporting Maui schools and
the students within our community.

Maui Chamber Orchestra and Chorus – French Impressions: Enjoy an afternoon of French elegance as the Maui Chamber Orchestra and Chorus presents Impressionist masters, Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy, along with late-Romantic Gabriel Fauré, who influenced them both.

Cooking on Maui with Chef Lee – ‘Seafood with Style’: Located at Sugar Beach Events in Kihei, you will make a little bit of everything in this class and you will learn seafood cooking techniques from Chef Lee Anderson that you can easily recreate in your home.

August 18th

Makawao Third Friday: Live music, ono grinds, shopping and family-fun entertainment on Makawao’s Baldwin Avenue.

Maui Calls 2017: Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s signature gala event begins with a fresh flower lei greeting and Hawaiian music serenade. Mix, mingle, and taste delectable pūpū created by chefs from stellar Maui restaurants and specialty food purveyors.

August 19th

Relay for Life of West Maui: Relay For Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Relay is staffed and coordinated by volunteers in more than 5,200 communities and 27 countries. Volunteers give of their time and effort because they believe it’s time to take action against cancer.

August 25th

Kihei Fourth Friday: Live music, ono grinds, shopping and family-fun entertainment at Kihei’s Azeka Shopping Center.

Mapa Live Presents the Hunchback of Notre Dame: The famous love story of Quasimodo and Esmeralda comes to life on a grand scale in this reimagining of Victor Hugo’s tale of hope, acceptance, and what it means to be a hero. 7:30pm showing.

Mapa Live Presents the Hunchback of Notre Dame: The famous love story of Quasimodo and Esmeralda comes to life on a grand scale in this reimagining of Victor Hugo’s tale of hope, acceptance, and what it means to be a hero. 3pm showing.
